spring finds

This weekend was the Spring Fling opening of the Nashville Flea Market. My friends Jill, Courtney and I went for some treasure hunting.
Reproduction porcelain Nippon Chocolate pot and cups
$2 salt & pepper shakers!
Vance has been working nights so I occupied my time by cooking & shopping this weekend. I wanted to update my wrists for spring and found some new pieces at J. Crew and Nordstrom.
Gold spikes by Tasha, pink and green bangles from J. Crew & Expandable Wire Bangle by Alex & Ani.
Here I am doing spring shopping and it supposed to snow tonight in Nashville! I am so ready for real spring.

she (still) loves birds

One of my dearest girlfriends, Meredith, worked for an upper end clothing retailer for a number of years post college. As you would imagine, Mer's wardrobe is insanely amazing and because she is so kind and generous she would often send along packages with sweaters, purses, soaps, etc. from sample sales. When Mer's colleagues (creative and such) would discuss who they designed for they referred to this client as she. She loves brass details on her bags. She loves color blocking this season. She loves birds - this one is a from a few seasons ago, yet still applies to many of us. I (still) love birds (hence my blog design).

Lenox Chirp - massively overproduced and likely in your local Marshall's

spring is in the air...

This time of year always makes me anxious for fresh colors, tan legs, pedicured toes - I am feeling so ready for spring.
Here are a few things that I am adding to my spring look (or hope to!).
Yellow Twill Skinny Pants via Forever 21
Chambray Shirt - Hive 'n Honey via Piperlime
Shorts via J. Crew Factory
Yellow Kitty.

Mint Candy Apple.
Fairy Teal.

What things do you have your eye on for spring? Have a good night!

pretty things

As I think I've mentioned (via blog) before, Vance and I are making a more concerted effort to save money. I have been couponing (that is a whole other blog issue) and searching for sales for the past few months. Quite a frugal start to 2012! That being said I am still me and I still get the shopping bug rather frequently. A few pretty (and inexpensive/silly) things I am into right now...

via Bloomingdale's - I have been looking an owl ring for months! Random, I know.

Totally faux rose gold watch from NY & Co. - haven't gone here in years but I love this
chunky watch for an amazingly low price no less!

Gwen Boot by Diane Von Furstenberg from Neiman Marcus. I found these online this week and got them for OVER 50% off!

Back to Breakfast in Bed on the Soapnet - I love weekend mornings!

Every girl wants to be spoiled

...on Valentine's Day! I keep an on-going list of things that I like and here are a few highlights that I hope to acquire one of these days.  I have been on the search for a new leather and metal (preferably) gold bracelet over the past few months. Top runners include:

and a staple that I want - gold ball earrings.

Santa was good...and so are the sales!

Santa was quite good to Vance and I this year (and he came all the way from PA).
Peppering Skirt from Anthro.
and oh the post-Christmas sales!
Hobo Lauren Wallet
J. Crew Liquid Silk Skirt
Perfect Patent Pump - Ann Taylor

The most amazing part...the Liquid Silk Skirt was $19.50. Yes - that's right. After a 40% final sale and then an additional 15% with Vanderbilt I.D., I paid with a 20 dollar bill at J. Crew. That is so amazing to me. The shoes were 50% too. I love a good sale.

I'm not "finished" until my nails are done.

As many of my friends, former roommates and husband know, I like to paint my nails - often. Although, I don't think anything beats a great red, I have a few other finds that I thought I would share.

One of my favorite pinky-reds, OPI Dutch Tulips.

A new addition to my neutrals, OPI Barefoot in Barcelona.
OPI for Sepohora "And a Cherry on Top" - great red - this was my wedding nail color.
In a hurry? Sally Hanson Manicure in a Bottle is super quick drying and easy to apply!
Commander in Chic (got this color from Jordan R.!)
All Fired Up by Sally Hanson - a great organgey-red, pop!
A red that dries quickly? What? Yes! Right Said Red.

A few other self mani tools that are great...
This buffer is great.

Sweep over your nails before applying polish - alcohol to remove lotion, oils, etc.
Nail dryer makes an at-home mani so much faster!
Cuticle oil - I put on a bit before bed time. Great in the winter!
Lastly, a few drops of this thinner can extend your nail polish life almost indefinitely!
I swear I have bottles from 2005 that I am working through thanks to this product.
